While we’re in lockdown at the moment, it’s important to remember that this situation can’t last forever - and what better way to pass the time right now than to plan a couple of parties to throw once the restrictions have been lifted and normal life can resume once again?
There are all sorts of cocktails to consider when planning a big celebration and you’ll have a fantastic time putting your drinks menus together… or thinking about what you’ll be quaffing first when you can finally come and see us again here at Leicester Square cocktail bar The Lost Alhambra in a few months’ time.
Champagne cocktails are an obvious choice for a celebration but why not try something a little different like a French 75.
Simply pour a tablespoon of lemon juice, a teaspoon of sugar syrup and 50ml of gin into a cocktail shaker, then fill with ice. Give it a good shake and then strain into a champagne glass before topping up with champers. Give it a gentle stir and away you go.
Or you could try an Air Mail, which is lovely and summery with some honey, golden rum, lime juice and champagne… the perfect choice of drink when you’re BBQing over the next couple of weeks.
And then there’s always the Death in the Afternoon, which doesn’t sound especially celebratory - but we can confirm that it is delicious. It’s made using champagne and absinthe, and was invented by Ernest Hemingway - sharing the same name as his book. Drink one while reading it, why don’t you?
